Volunteer Airport Ambassadors If you need help finding a hotel, rental car, taxi, shuttle or other form of transportation, the Airport's Volunteer Airport Ambassadors are trained to help in all travel-related matters. They will also recommend points of interest and special events.
Accessibility Services Numerous accessibility services are conveniently located throughout San Diego International Airport. Also, Volunteer Airport Ambassadors, Harbor Police Officers and Airport Traffic Officers are available at key locations inside and outside the terminals to assist travelers with special needs. You may request personal assistance at any time by calling Airport Paging from any courtesy phone or TDD phone location. Once you are connected, tell the Airport Operator that accessibility services are required. The nearest Airport personnel will be dispatched to provide assistance.
Baggage Check and Claim When you arrive at the Airport, you have a couple of options when checking in your baggage. And if you are arriving in San Diego, the baggage claim areas are conveniently located at the center of each terminal in Terminals 1 and 2, and at the west end of the Commuter Terminal.
Check-In Several airlines offer curbside baggage check-in services for departing passengers. Check with your airline to see if it provides this service. If not, you must go to the proper ticket counter to receive your seat assignment and boarding pass, and to check baggage. Please be prepared to show identification at each check-in location, as well as at security checkpoints leading to departure gates.
Baggage Claim Follow the baggage claim signs to the carousels centrally located on the ground level of each terminal. The monitors above each carousel will display your airline and flight number. The carousel produces an audible buzz and a flashing light to signal when baggage is being unloaded. Since many pieces of luggage look alike, check all name tags or other identifiers to ensure that you are removing the correct item(s).
Baggage Carts Passengers with heavy or large numbers of bags will find baggage cart dispensers conveniently located throughout the Airport. The rental fee is $2.00 per cart. The dispenser accepts currency and credit cards.
Lost/Damaged Baggage If your luggage does not arrive or is damaged, visit the airline's baggage claim office located in the baggage claim area. For additional assistance, directly contact the airline baggage claim office or ticket counter.
Lost and Found If you happen to misplace your belongings, the Airport's Lost & Found office is located on the first floor of the baggage claim area in Terminal 2. Daily office hours are 8:00 a.m. to noon and 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The phone number is 619.400.2140.
If you have lost or misplaced an item, please be prepared to provide:
A detailed description of the item The date when the item was lost The specific location where the item was lost Positive proof of ownership will be required to claim an item. If you have lost an item on an aircraft, please contact the airline directly. As a rule, please protect your personal belongings at all times. Particular care should be taken as you go through the Airport's heightened security procedures. Security checkpoints are a common location where passengers forget their belongings.
